Rätselsocke Auflösung / Mystery Sock: The Solution

Nachdem das Socktoberfest und die Mit-Strick-Aktion nun doch vorbei sind, ist hier meine Auflösung für die Rätselsocke:

Since Socktoberfest and the Knit-Along are now over, here is my solution for the mystery sock:


Ich muss allerdings zugeben, dass ich mich nicht ganz an die Vorgabe gehalten habe. Dort war nämlich eine normale, glatt rechts gestrickte Zehe vorgesehen. Da mir aber das Lochmuster so gut gefallen hat, wollte ich es nicht so schnell aufgeben und habe einfach auch die Zehe im Muster gestrickt. Und mir gefällt's :-)

I have to admit, though, that I took some liberties with the pattern. The original called for a normal stockinette toe. Yet I liked the lace pattern so much that I didn't want to let go of it so soon and simply knit the toe in the pattern, too. And I think it looks nice :-)

Rätselsocke Teil 4 / Mystery Sock part 4

Nachdem nun der letzte Hinweis veröffentlich ist, ist hier mein Stand zu Woche 4 (das fertige Bild gibt's dann in einer Woche):

Wie man sieht, ist mir doch das Garn ausgegangen. Aber ich denke mal, der Farbton des Regia Uni, mit dem ich weitergestrickt habe, passt ganz gut dazu. An der Stelle bin ich auch eine Nadelstärke runtergegangen, was die Passform nochmal ein Stück optimiert hat :-)

As you can see, I did run out of yarn. But I think the hue of the Regia Uni which I substituted matches the handspun quite well. At that point I also went down a needle size which improved the fit a little more :-)

Rätselsocke Teil 3 / Mystery Sock Part 3

Der dritte Hinweis der Rätselsocke war ziemlich schnell gestrickt, da es nur um die Ferse ging. Trotzdem war er für mich interessant. Ich habe nämlich von meiner ersten Socke an immer nur die Bumerang-Ferse gestrickt, einerseits weil sie so einfach ist, und andererseits weil ich ja am liebsten von der Spitze nach oben stricke. Die Rätselsocke hat nun eine klassische Ferse, was bedeutet, dass ich auch hier wieder was lernen kann. Aber genug der Worte:

The third clue of the mystery sock was knit pretty quickly since it was only the heel. Nevertheless I found it interesting. That's because from my first sock on I've only knit short row heels, because they are so simple and because I prefer to knit my socks toe-up. Now the mystery sock has a classic flap heel, which means that again there's something to learn for me. But enough with the words:

Rätselsocke Teil 2 / Mystery Sock Part 2

Nachdem heute der nächste Hinweis veröffentlich wurde, hier mein aktueller Stand:

Das Muster hat echt Spaß gemacht. Es ist das erste Mal, dass ich was Löchriges gestrickt habe, und es wird sicher nicht das letzte Mal sein. In der Anleitung waren eigentlich 12 Musterwiederholungen vorgesehen, und die hätte ich ja auch gerne gestrickt (zumal ich meine Socken schön lang mag). Aber wie schon erwähnt, rechne ich damit, dass mir früher oder später das Garn ausgeht. Und damit das eher später als früher passiert, habe ich mich halt mit diesem Muster ein bisschen zurückgehalten.

The pattern was a lot of fun. It was the first time I've knit anything lacy and it definitely won't be the last time. I know the instructions called for 12 pattern repeats, and I'd have liked to knit them all (especially since I like my socks nice and long). But as I already mentioned, I expect to run out of yarn sooner or later. And in order for that to happen later rather than sooner, I've held off on this pattern.

Nächster Schritt: Die Ferse :-)

Rätselsocke Teil 1 / Mystery Sock Part 1

Nachdem gestern der nächste Hinweis für die Rätselsocke erschienen ist, möchte ich doch mal zeigen, wie sie bisher gediehen ist:

Since the next clue to the Mystery Sock was given yesterday, today I want to show what mine look like so far:


So weit gefällt sie mir gut und sitzt bequem. Ich habe nur die Befürchtung, dass mein Garn nicht ausreichen wird - wenn schon das Bündchen so breit ist ... Naja, wenn es nicht reicht, werde ich den Fuß eben in einer anderen Farbe stricken. Ist ja eh im Schuh versteckt ...

So far I like the pattern pretty well and it fits nicely, too. I only fear that I'm going to run out of yarn - after all, that's only the ribbing ... Oh well, if the yarn doesn't last, I'll just knit the foot in another colour. Gonna be hidden in the shoe anyway ...

Socktoberfest

Was es nicht alles gibt in den Weiten des www ... Ich bin zwar keine Biertrinkerin und kann mir auch wenig vorstellen, was unattraktiver wäre als ein Abend umgeben von alkoholisierten Bayern und lauter Musik - aber dafür habe ich mich entschlossen, am diesjährigen Socktoberfest teilzunehmen. Das Socktoberfest feiert alles, was mit Sockigem zu tun hat, egal in welcher Form, Farbe oder Mustervarietät.

The things you find in the depths of the www ... Now I'm not a beer drinker and I can think of few things less attractive than spending an evening surrounded by alcoholised Bavarians and loud music - but I have decided to participate in this year's Socktoberfest. Socktoberfest celebrates everything socky, regardless of shape, colour or pattern.

Und obendrein gibt es dieses Jahr sogar eine Rätselsocke zum Mitstricken. Bisher habe ich mich ja aus solchen Miteinander-Strick-Aktionen immer rausgehalten, aber bei einer Socke ... Wer könnte da widerstehen? *g*

And furthermore this year there is a mystery sock Knit-Along. Until now I've always kept out of Knit-Alongs, but a sock ... Who could resist? *g*

Also mein Plan für das diesjährige Socktoberfest:
1. Ein Paar Socken, das Teil des Weihnachtsstrickens ist (da es eine Überraschung für den Beschenkten werden soll, gibt es dazu erstmal keine Details)
2. Die TTL Mystery Sock, zu der ich regelmäßige Updates posten werde (da ganz sicher alle Leser genauso gespannt sind wie ich, was dabei rauskommt ;-) )
3. Zur Entspannung ein bisschen Fortschritt bei der einfachen glatt-rechts Socke, die ich immer am Laufen habe.

So this is my plan for this year's Socktoberfest: 1. One pair of socks that's part of the Christmas knitting (since that's supposed to be a surprise for the recipient there won't be any details for now) 2. The TTL Mystery Sock, about which I shall regularly post updates (since surely all my readers are just as excited as I am to find out how that one turns out ;-) ) 3. To relax, some progress on the plain stockinette sock I have going at all times.

Das richtige Garn für die Mystery Socke war übrigens gar nicht so leicht zu finden ... gefragt war nach einem Uni- oder größtenteils Uni-Garn. Nachdem ich eine Weile vor meiner Sammlung von quietschbunten, wild gemusterten Wollknäulen saß und mich gefragt habe, welches davon denn am ehesten das Strickmuster zur Geltung bringen könnte, kam mir die Erleuchtung: Der Karibik Cocktail! Für den hatte ich ja noch einen Lebenszweck gesucht, da er mir für eine glatt-rechts Socke doch zu eintönig war.

By the way, finding the right yarn for the Mystery Sock wasn't all that easy ... The pattern calls for a solid or semi-solid yarn. After sitting for a while in front of my collection of multicoloured, wildly patterned balls of yarn and wondering which one of them might show of the knitting pattern the best, I experienced enlightenment: The Caribbean Cocktail! After all, I had been looking for a reason to exist for that one, as I'd found it a bit monotonous for a plain stockinette sock.
