I've reached the first mile stone:
Eine Spule ist voll. Alle fünf Vliese haben gut draufgepasst.
One bobbin is full. And all five batts fit onto it without problem.
Inzwischen habe ich auch ein ziemlich gutes Gefühl für die Fasern bekommen und weiß, wie sie gesponnen werden möchten. Das ist zwar nicht so, wie ich es eigentlich geplant hatte - ich hatte mir nämlich relativ dicke Singles vorgestellt, die dann zu einem eher voluminösen Garn verzwirnt werden. Aber die Fasern möchten gerne dünner und mit viel Dreh gesponnen werden und ich habe es inzwischen akzeptiert. Dadurch wird natürlich auch das fertige Garn dünner und fester werden, aber das ist auch in Ordnung. Mit der passenden Nadelstärke werde ich trotzdem ein schönes weiches Gestrick bekommen.
By now I'm getting along pretty well with the fiber and know how it wants to be spun. Which isn't quite as I'd planned it - after all, I'd imagined rather thick singles which would ply into a nicely voluminous yarn. But the fiber wants to be spun thinner and with more twist and by now I've accepted that. Of course that will also make the finished yarn thinner and tighter, but that's all right, too. With the appropriate needle size I'll still get a nicely soft piece of knitting.
Es sei denn, die Fasern haben wieder was dagegen...
Unless the fiber has other ideas, again ...
