Noro-Schal / Noro-Scarf

Nachdem ich eine Weile hin und her überlegt habe, habe ich dann doch beschlossen, einen Versuch mit der gefärbten Wolle zu machen. Also von den grünen und lilanen Kammzug jeweils einen Streifen abgerupft und strickfertig ausgezogen.

After thinking about it for a while, I finally decided to give the painted fiber a try. Thus I ripped a strip from each the green merino and mauve alpaca and pre-drafted it for knitting.

Eindeutig nicht das, was ich wollte. Der Wollstreifen war zu schmal, darum wechseln die Farben sehr schnell. Und ich wollte ja langsame Verläufe haben, kein unruhiges Muster. Also habe ich es mit dickeren Streifen nochmal probiert:

Definitely not what I wanted. The strip of fiber was too narrow, which is why the colours change so quickly. Yet I wanted slow gradients, not a busy pattern. Thus a made another try with thicker strips:


Das kommt von der Musterung schon eher hin. Aber nachdem ich das Ganze jetzt in zwei Varianten verstrickt bei unterschiedlichem Licht gesehen habe, ist mir endgültig klar: Das Alpaka gefällt mir nicht. Es bildet zwar einen ganz interessanten Kontrast mit dem grünen Merino, aber es ist nicht der Effekt, den ich wollte. Ich möchte einen lebhaften, bunten Schal mit leuchtenden Farben. Also werde ich wohl nochmal zum Farbtopf greifen müssen. Und das lila Alpaka wird erstmal auf unbestimmte Zeit im Stash verschwinden...

Pattern-wise, that's more like it. But after knitting the whole thing twice and looking at it in different lights, I finally realised that I don't like the alpaca. It forms a pretty interesting contrast to the green merino, but it's not the effect I wanted. I want a lively, colourful scarf with bright colours. Meaning that I'll have to go back to painting. And the mauve alpaca will disappear into the stash for now...
